Welcome!

Quilter's Attic is privileged to be a part of a newly organized non-profit organization named Sewn-n-Love. It was founded in 2004 by two of our customers, Sandy Wilson and Joan Fuller. Each of us has been touched in some way or another by cancer. This organization gives us a way to use an art we love and share it with someone else. We want to wrap cancer patients in our quilts and let them know that there are people who care about them and what they are going through. The motto for Sewn-n-Love is "Quilts, wrapping cancer patients and their families in the warmth of God's love." We have scheduled workshops at the Quilter's Attic on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 am - 5 pm. We would love for you to join us for whatever amount of time you can spare. We make new friends while cutting, sewing, pressing and stitching. If your time is limited, you might like to donate fabric or batting. We will put it to good use. Among other undertakings, the group makes quilts for Camp Horizon, a camp for children ages 5-17 who have cancer. This camp is fully funded by the American Cancer Society and gives children with cancer the opportunity to enjoy a week of summer activities. There are 40 plus camps in the U.S., and we hope to once again have hundreds of quilts to send around the country. The lap-size quilts for Camp Horizon should measure approximately 48" x 60". Sewn-n-Love requests that these quilts be made of 100% cotton fabric with flannel backs, if possible. Camp Horizon stipulates that the finished quilts be washed to remove any dyes, sizing, etc. from the fabric. Sewn-n-Love also donates quilts to the Hope Lodge, a facility in Nashville, Tennessee where cancer patients and 2 family members may stay free of charge during cancer treatments. They also hold workshops for these residents. We are continuing to endeavor to make quilts for each treatment room at the Sarah Cannon Cancer facility also located in Nashville, Tennessee. Quilter's Attic serves as a drop-off site (or you may mail them to us) for anyone who would like to donate a finished quilt. As you can see, Sewn-n-Love can really use your help! For more information you may go to www.sewn-n-love.org or contact Sandy Wilson at 615-305-0990. If you are out of state and would like to start a group at your church or favorite quilt shop, Sandy would be happy to speak with you or email her at info@sewn-n-love.org.
